Essay Since being young, I was raised up and educated in a disciplined environment by my beloved father. Therefore, I have a habit of making detailed plans for things to do. My dream has always been studying abroad so that I would become a pharmacist. In the following sections, I will draw a picture about my dream school in terms of academic and career goals. Firstly, my primary academic goals include two periods. The undergraduate program (Bachelor of Science) commences in September, 2013. This is an ideal path that prepares students for the professional programs such as Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. I have nurtured the dream of being a pharmacist since I was a 14 year-old girl. The next phase of studying is to win a seat to the Pharmacy program offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Thus, completing a one-year program of general BS.c along with the completion of prerequisite requirements would give me an unrivalled chance of being admitted. Secondly, my career goals consist of two terms. In the short term, after completing my studies at the UofA, I would be confident to apply to an international pharmaceutical company in Vietnam and work conscientiously. In the long term, my another goal would be to keep ongoing learning to sharpen the skills of an good pharmacist. This would enable me to help others and positively contribute to the primary health-care in my rural community. Moreover, I want to devote myself to charity activities in local areas to help the poor and street children as my motto is Helping people first. In my research, University of Alberta is one of Canadas top teaching and research-based universities. By studying in modern facilities and an international environment, I do believe the University of Alberta could fully unleash my potentials.

Fear of Polio in the 1950s Essay -- Disease Illness

Fear of Polio in the 1950s Paralytic poliomyelitis, "polio", held a reign of terror over this nation for decades. But unless you were born before 1955, polio may seem to be just another ephemeral disease that has been nonexistent for years. Those born before 1955 remember having a great fear of this horrible disease which crippled thousands of once active, healthy children. This disease had no cure and no identified causes, which made it all the more terrifying. People did everything that they had done in the past to prevent the spread of disease, such as quarantining areas, but these tactics never seemed to work. Polio could not be contained. Many people did not have the money to care for a family member with polio. This was one of the reasons the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis was organized. The March of Dimes, the fund raiser headed by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, raised thousands and thousands of dollars to help people care for their polio stricken family members and to aid in the cost of research for a vaccine that would put an end to this misery that affected the lives of so many people. Poliomyelitis was the term used by doctors to describe the condition in which the gray (polios) anterior matter of the spinal chord (myelos) was inflamed (-itis). Until a cure was discovered, no one had the slightest idea where "polio" had come from or why it paralyzed so many children. People learned later that, oddly enough, it was the improved sanitary conditions which caused children to be attacked by the virus. Intro to Rh Bill

Humans are naturally born governed with laws and that’s what we call the natural law. And as we, humans grow to become more intellectual, we generated our own laws and rules to govern our lives for better quality and discipline. But sometimes, there are laws or proponents that have gained different viewpoints among us as to its necessity, value, and morality. One of these is the Reproductive Health Bill. Almost over a decade has passed since the Reproductive Health Bill in the Philippines was for the first time proposed, now that the pursuance of the bill has gained its rebirth, still it has become a part of the national debate bringing about a wider division. The Reproductive Health Bill, popularly known as the RH Bill, is a Philippine bill aiming to guarantee universal access to methods and information on birth control and maternal care. While there is general agreement about its provisions on maternal and child health, there is great debate on its key proposal that the Filipino taxpayer and the private sector will fund and undertake widespread distribution of family planning devices furthermore, 81% Filipinos are Catholics, the Catholic Church exerts a strong influence in public life. Its staunch of opposition to the bill has drawn the ire of non-Catholics and Catholics alike who support the bill, and they invoke the principle of separation of church and state to stop the church. Passage or non-passage of the bill has negative implications depending on the views.

Alexander the Great was one of the greatest rulers and conquerors of all time. He conquered the mighty Persian Empire and most of the known world at that time. Alexander was born in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of an excellent general and organizer, named Philip II King of Macedon. His mother was Olympias, princess of Epirus. She was brilliant and hot-tempered. Alexander inherited the best qualities of both his parents. But he was even more ambitious than his father. Also while passing through Phrygia Alex cut the Gordian knot with his sword. The Gordian knot is a knot that was tied by Gordius ancient king of Phrygia. The prophecy of the knot said that the Knot was to be undone by the person who was to rule Asia. Going southward Alex and his troops came upon the main Persian army led by King Darius III, at Issus in northeastern Syria. Intelligence on both sides was imprecise, and the two armies had in fact been advancing randomly. Alex was already encamped by Myriandrus (near modern Iskenderun, Turkey) when he found out that Darius was along his line of communications at Issus. Alex came head to head with King Darius during the Battle of Issus on the northeast Mediterranean coast.
